I mean...
Is it clear from the below that I don't know EXACTLY what the theme is, just what I want you to read and think about, until we DO know what the theme is?

I don't want to steal any thunder or great ideas that Brett might have, but I have expounded on my thoughts on this, even though I'm an interloper.
Stop by at my blog for further thoughts...
This is a very intriguing post about what blogosphere means....
One note, the link to my site on the prior post doesn't work.
I am fascinated by the metacognitive aspects of blogging. Why do we blog? Maybe we could spend this week looking at posts that discuss blogging, and then next week, finding most loved or loathed blogs, then discussing why they work (or irritate the hell out of us).
My "blogging is unproductive" statement got a couple responses. Is it unproductive? Or maybe ask the reverse question: what does blogging do/produce/incite/motivate? Are there ever quantifiable results? Actions takens? We could use Swift Boat as an example of a blog-based result, but are there any recent blogdom victories? Are any sites actually asking us to do something? Or is it primarily "read this," with an occasional sidebar of "buy this"?
Aldon makes the point in "Blogging Alone" that we are an ad hoc community. This is another interesting angle. Look at how we create these communities with blogs. How important do they become to enriching perhaps an aspect of our lives that has no other outlet?
My sons just started wrestling. I know almost nothing about the sport. I blogged "youth wrestling" and got some blogs with great imformation. Reasured me about some of my concerns. I know have access to this whole community of wrestlers and wrestler parents that I probably would never have found.
I think COlleen Redman's comment on Aldon's blog is worthy of discussion(see my latest blog for the quote) Her blog is also noteworthy.
In "Constructive Media" Jon Garfunkel also uses the words "useful" and "utility" more than once. To restate one of Elin's questions... how are blogs useful? What are they used for? What do participants hope to achieve by creating media that is "constructive" as opposed to destructive?
This is a couple of weeks too late for y'all, but it is the professional TV cameraman's look at Vlogging.
