A woman of a certain age

Check out this slightly pissed off older woman. I love her. Go back to the beginning, when she gets the robot dog. You will love her too. She will be one of our proto-bloggers for this week.

I love this woman! Now here's a blog I'd read again. I feel like I've made a new aquaintance. It's like she's writing the blog because she has no one to talk to. She clearly has no agenda, other than ruminating. I also notice that she seems to have very few comments, and yet she comes back again and again, month after month. I enjoyed the list of what she's going to pack for the evacuation, especially "precious Henry." I say that if she makes it make to Texas, we offer to buy her a REAL dog.

Seriously, I ask myself, why does this blog have such appeal? Because it, like Dooce, is always about the same thing? I might return to dKos to find out the latest, but I would probably end up either at a different site, or reading some tangential thread. I won't (probably can't) read repeatedly on the same topic day after day. And then there's the tone. Perhaps what we seek, crave, whatever, is the authentic human voice that merely tells its story and leaves us to make the judgments about it that we will...rather than the self-important blogs that DEMAND we join them on their quest...their hundreds of quests and threads and quirky and crucial stories that exhort us to think like them, act like them. The rhetoric is simply exhausting.
